Second Grade Teacher
April 04, 2006
Hi! My name is Charlene Wintz and I have taught second grade for seventeen years. I started as a Title One Paraprofessional at the Round Lake School in 1980. In 1987 I returned to school and received my BA from Buena Vista in Elementary Education. I started teaching second grade in Brewster in 1989. In 1999 I received my MS from Southwest State University. My husband Brent and I live on a farm near Round Lake. Our two children attended and graduated from Sioux Valley Round Lake Brewster School. Kara is a registered nurse and works at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. Kara and Simon were married in 2005 and live in Lino Lakes. Simon is a civil engineer in St. Paul. Trevor is a sophomore at South Dakota State University in Brookings. He is pursuing a degree in agricultural engineering. My hobbies include reading, flower gardening and searching out "good" junk at auctions, antique stores, and flea markets.

A bunch of turkeys!

The second graders wrote Christmas poems on the back of ornaments they created. The ornaments were sent to Nate Spessard and Brian Smith, soldiers currently serving in Iraq. We hope they enjoy reading these and looking at this small reminder of their home towns! We want to thank them for their service to our country and wish them a safe return in the new year!
